You can contribute to the success of the Maxine Mimms Academies by making a donation. Your donation can be earmarked to support programs like Garden of Eden and Triage. The bigger win is jobs, and jobs nurture a whole community, with pride, self esteem, good health and a true sense of community.
Companies that Care
Business owners: You can donate to the Academy's growth and program development when you join the Friends of Maxine Mimms Academy (FOMMA). Your donation helps us provide essential services to our students. Each donor is honored with a listing in our FOMMA Directory, which presents information about your company and/or the ways you are participating at MMA.
The Directory is managed and produced as an educational activity that gives MMA students experience with valuable skills needed in today's workplace, including writing, editing, graphics, data management, and sales. Participating students also learn to work cooperatively and to develop relationships with "clients" like the members of FOMMA. MMA plans several innovative classroom activities based on our web system.
For a limited time every donor of $50 or more will receive a numbered copy of A Pledge to Rescue our Youth, a poem composed by the late Dr. Maya Angelou for Maxine Mimms Academies. Donors giving $100 or more will receive an enhanced copy of the poem on heavy, parchment-like paper suitable for framing with a photograph of Dr. Angelou.
Maya Angelou (1928-2014) was a personal friend of Maxine Mimms. They shared numerous interests, especially a focus on the improvement of education devoted to a better life for all children. Dr. Angelou composed A Pledge to Rescue our Youth and assigned all proceeds from its distribution to the Maxine Mimms Academies in perpetuity.
